The WikiGnome who has your back

Hi: As you see, I added some pics on the Main/HomePage - I just found them by googling "cello". They are probably all copyrighted, so you need to replace them. But this gives you an idea of things you can do.

I removed the link to Admin from the Main/SideBar, since you have it at the far right of the WikiBar.

On the site, the information breaks down to

  • How to use me (links from the Main.HomePage), and
  • Learn about me in order to find out Why to use me (links from the SideBar).

Right?

I think, on the Main/HomePage (and all over), you should organize all of your How To Use Me links according to the three ways your services may be used:

  • for events
  • for recordings
  • lessons

Also: Go through and standardize on speaking in the first person - 'I' and 'me' - except when you're quoting someone.
OR at least standardize on one or the other. Right now you have both, on different pages.

Use the Main.SiteIndex to look at all the pages on the site. You may have material you're not using, or that you can combine (I don't think that you need both JanetSchiff/Learn and JanetSchiff/CelloLessons, for instance) some pages.

Happy Wiki-ing, See you Monday!

Hi, Janet:

I added some notes on your Main.HomePage - if they are helpful, keep them around while you develop the site. Feel free to remove them whenever you're ready.

You now have a link on your wikibar to the Admin.HomePage - so you can remove that from the Main.SideBar.

Now that the links on the SideBar work, you can look at how to arrange them

  • you can put a line of heading-formatted text in there to help define sections - use a !, or maybe two !!'s
  • and you surely don't need the empty rows between the bullet-points - just using a bullet on the sidebar adds some space between rows.

I see that on JanetSchiff.HomePage, you have a link to your Bucketworks profile. You might want to copy that and bring it over here. You could put it directly on JanetSchiff.HomePage, or on Profiles.JanetSchiff. One thing that works well is to have your profile information on JanetSchiff.HomePage, and put a redirect on Profiles.JanetSchiff to bring people to JanetSchiff.HomePage if they somehow click on the profile page - let me know if you'd like to do that and want help with it.

About organizing content: Think about whether any of the topics addressed by the links on the sidebar should really be wikigroups: is there any subject there that really should have more than one page devoted to it? Like maybe Current Projects?

What else could you have on here - maybe take a look at what some of the other trainees have done with their sites. Alexei has a Marketing Strategies page that doesn't show up on the public pages - he has links to it from his Admin.HomePage. Go to our http://www.WikiTraining.com site and look at some samples from the trainee group that started on 3/21.

Holler if you have questions! You can email OR you can add notes at the top of this page - that's kind of a nice way to have a log of your site's development right here.
